4 miles this morning - in just over 33 minutes.
Mile 1 -- 8:12
Mile 2 -- 8:11
Mile 3 -- 8:21
Mile 4 -- 8:39
So, yeah, why didn't I have that in me for the race on Sunday? Who knows.....??? I'm still happy with my results, but man, it would have been cool to have been under 9-minute miles. Oh well.
A few Gabe and Dante tidbits -
Today I asked Gabe if he wanted peanut butter and jelly for lunch, and he said "No, I want a PB&J."
They shared a snack on the way home from the gym today. I gave Gabe a baggie with goldfish in it, and he was handing them to Dante, and Dante would grab one, pop it in his mouth, and then laugh - which, of course, made Gabe laugh. I snuck a look back at them in my rearview mirror, and it was one of the cutest things I've ever seen.
Last night, as a treat, I tried to give them both ice cream after dinner. I say "tried," because neither of them would eat it. Gabe kept whining that it was cooooooooold! and Dante just took tiny tastes off his spoon, made a horrible face, and then threw the spoon on the table. How can my children not like ice cream?!
Dante is quite the big boy now. I had him eating right at the table with us tonight - in his booster seat, but without the tray. I even let him have his plate, which we don't usually do - we usually take food off his plate and put it on the tray in small increments. But tonight he did really well, and ate nicely, and didn't try to send his plate flying across the room. Well done, I think.
He's also rather interested in the whole potty thing, which I'm hoping we can use to our advantage, and maybe get him potty trained before he's 3 years old. Hey, I can dream, can't I?
At least I'm down to just one in diapers. That's right. I can say that now, and it feels pretty darn good. We're only putting diapers on Gabe at naptime and bedtime. That's just TWO diapers a day. Two measly diapers!
Of course this does mean that I now have to be constantly aware of whether or not there is a public restroom readily available, and I have to be a little less "free" with the water/juice intake - not restricting it, but monitoring it - and I have to remember to remind him to use the potty, in case he gets distracted and waits too long. But for the past two days, even when in the midst of a game or a tv show, he's taken it upon himself to come and tell me he needs to go potty, so he's doing a pretty good job of staying on top of that all by himself.
And truthfully - I'll take ALL of that over changing diapers anyday! It's a small, small price to pay......
Boy... your boys sound just like mine... Jon doesn't like ice cream either ("it's too cold") and Matt will only eat a little bit ("I'm done"). I started potty training them three months before they turned three and we have only had a few accidents. The hardest part was bedtime. Every now and then Matt wets the bed - I think he is such a hard sleeper that he doesn't wake up till its too late - plus he doesn't like to get out of bed because it's dark (I even have a night light in the bathroom). Jon, on the other hand, has no problem with getting up and then he comes wakes me up to tell me used the potty... LOL
