Today at lunch, Gabe stood up in his chair, and I told him to sit down, and next thing I know, I hear Dante scolding Gabe "Sit down! Sit down, Dabe!"
When Dante is hungry, instead of just plain old whining, he now walks around whining "Eat somethingggggggggggg." I haven't yet decided whether or not this is an improvement.
Tonight he did his usual crying routine when I put him in the crib, and I asked him "Dante, why don't you want to go to sleep?" He answered "Ummmm..... well, Mommy...." But that's as far as he got, so why he's doing this remains a mystery. But just like last night, all I had to do was sit with him for about 5 minutes, and once I had done that, he willingly went in his crib and went to sleep. I guess he just needs the extra hugs. And I'll be happy to provide them.
I got a few of these a while ago, and I have to say that I am LOVING them! I got them to use mainly for running and working out, but now I wear 'em all the time. I like the fact that they're so much wider than a regular headband, and I really love the fact that they come in so many great patterns. I actually had a hard time narrowing down my selections, and could easily have chosen a dozen patterns that I liked. And I've gotten several compliments on them when I wear them out and about - even from strangers in the store. Definitely a good investment!
Today Gabe and I were sitting on the couch browsing through a toy catalog, and he saw something that looked like a video game, and was going on and on about how he wanted a video game. Then he said "I'd like to get a video game for my brother Dante." I love how he clarifies "my brother," as if I didn't know who he was talking about : )
When Dante woke up the other morning, Gabe and I went in to his room to get him, but I stood outside the room and waited to see what they would say to each other. Gabe went running in and yelled "Dante!" and Dante yelled right back "Dabe!" Then Gabe said "Hey, Dante, look at this!" and jumped up in the air and spun around. It was so cute to see him showing off for his little brother like that. They're so funny together.
We have a Brio brand train table, and one day Gabe was looking at the label on it, and he proudly proclaimed "B-R-I-O spells train table!"
Got in my 3-mile run this morning. It actually wasn't too terrible outside, but I kind of felt like running on the treadmill, just for a change, so that's what I did. Did my 3 miles in just over 25 minutes, so an 8:22 pace. Comfortable.
I think I'm going to be on my own for my 10-mile run Saturday, so I've gotta get my route planned. Woohoo!
On Sunday, as part of our Superbowl menu, we had veggies with dip, and Gabe sat down and ate nearly every carrot I had out on the veggie platter. He was just shoveling them in.
And today he said he wanted carrots and dip for afternoon snack, so that's what we had.
Well, Dante isn't as big a fan of the carrots and dip, but since Gabe was eating them, he gave it the old college try. He started out just dipping the carrots and then licking the dip off. Then he did attempt to eat them, but he'd partially chew them and then spit them out. And then he'd go back for more!
Meanwhile, Gabe, as he often does, was stuffing his face with far too much food at one time. He's a picky eater, but when he's eating something that he does like, he eats as if someone is hovering over him threatening to snatch the food off his plate.
So there I was, trying to eat my own snack, and next to me I have Gabe, who's got approximately 5 baby carrots in his mouth at once, desperately trying to chew them all - with his mouth wide open, of course - and across from me I have Dante, who is methodically chewing and spitting out carrots with ranch dip, the partially chewed particles of which have now collected in the collar of his shirt.
I love 'em to death, but my god, they're disgusting!
Looks like both your running and your children are coming along nicely. Those are some great times you are running. Keep it up!

LOL! I had to make Matthew's plate last night before I added the broccoli to the Chicken Alfredo. The kid will opt out for a sandwhich when he doesn't like what I cook *sigh* :-)
