Super 5K tomorrow at noon.
Weather forecast couldn't be better. Mid-40s and dry. Gorgeous. Perfect day for a nice run by the ocean.
My goal: HAVE FUN!!
Doing my long run on Thursday was definitely the right decision. My legs feel very well-rested and ready to run! Woohooo!!!!!!!!!
It was very odd to not run this morning, though. My Saturday long runs are such a part of my life now, I felt a bit lost without it.
I swam instead, but the pool is as crowded on Saturday morning as it is empty on Sunday mornings. I started out sharing with one other woman, but soon enough someone else came along and we had to circle swim.
I was pretty evenly matched, pace-wise, with the guy who joined us, but the woman I had been splitting the lane with was much slower than both of us, and it got very frustrating. I'd get stuck behind her, unable to pass her because the guy was coming up on the other side of the lane. I stuck it out for half an hour and 750 meters, but then I gave up and hit the showers. I wasn't really all that psyched up to swim anyway, and was just feeling like it wasn't worth the effort.
Dante skipped his nap the past two days, and woke up at 5am this morning. It is so hard when your once awesome sleeper starts giving you trouble about napping and going to bed. Every time we so much as mention going to bed, he says "no, no. Play" and goes running in the other direction. He did that today at naptime, but after two days of no napping and a 5am wakeup this morning, I wasn't giving in that easy. He cried in his crib for about 5 minutes, and then conked right out and slept for over 2 hours. Whew!
We switched Gabe's booster seat from the 5-point harness to just using it with the regular seatbelt. It was time, as he was actually over the weight limit for the harness (oops!), but it freaks me out. I know it's safe, but it seems so flimsy, compared to the 5-point harness.
And it's yet another sign of the fact that he is growing up SO darn fast.
In closing, an anecdote -
The other day, Gabe pushed Dante, and I had to take him aside and explain to him for the three trillionth time that he shouldn't push because it hurts people and it's not nice. And as I walked away, I muttered under my breath "WHEN are you going to start listening??!!"
I guess he heard me, because my rhetorical question was answered with "Um.... 4:00."
And in case you're wondering - No, he did not start listening at 4:00.
Awww... Poor Dante! Nobody loves him :-)
A couple of more mornings of getting up at 5 AM an he'll be back to taking naps!!
Have a great race tomorrow chica! Sub-23! K? :-) No pressure :-D

LMAO, 4:00! That's hilarious.
Good luck with the race today (if it hasn't happened yet). And go Pats!
My brother-in-law was on Channel 10 news last night from Phoenix!
