Mews 5K went great today. I'll write up a full report tomorrow, but the short version is that I beat my time in this race last year - by 30 seconds. Not too shabby, considering that I really haven't been training with much purpose these last few weeks.
Official time was 24:16. I forgot how fun it is to run a 5K - and how hard it is to run that fast for 3.1 miles. I've hit sub-8-minute miles in a lot of my recent training runs, but it's been a loooooong time since I've sustained that pace for more than half a mile. It's work!
We've had a pretty busy weekend, starting off with a Friday night party with the moms club. We did another theme night - appetizers - and the food was spectacular! I love appetizers, and ended up feeling more full than I sometimes do after eating a regular meal. It was a really fun night. The kids played together so well, and even sat and watched a movie for a while.
It was so cute to see a whole row of kids lined up on the couch eating Cheetos and watching a movie. What was even funnier was that it was mostly boys, and they were mesmerized by the "Tinkerbell" movie!
We were having such a great time that we ended up staying until 10:30. I don't think we've ever kept the boys up that late, so that was a first for us. They were completely exhausted, but they were behaving so well, and Scott and I were enjoying ourselves so much, we figured we'd stay as late as we could. We changed them into pjs before we left, and even though it was only a 5-minute ride home, they both fell asleep in the car and we got them right into bed when we got home.
And true to their morning-person identities, they were both up bright and early Saturday morning, despite the super-late night. Dante was up at 6, and Gabe at 6:30.
Gabe and I had to bring Madeline - one of the cats - to the vet Saturday morning, and he really enjoyed it. The vet let him use the stethoscope to listen to Madeline's heartbeat, and he was kind of in awe of the whole thing.
Then he and I went to the Mews and picked up my race number, and then to Blockbuster, where he picked out "101 Dalmations." We've been watching a lot of the Disney classics lately. Last week's pick was "The Aristocats," which he loved. We watched it just about every day last week, and I have a feeling we'll do the same with "101 Dalmations." They're cute movies, though, so I don't mind.
And now it's just a few days before Thanksgiving, which really seemed to sneak up on me. It'll be a fun week, though, especially since Scott took Tuesday and Wednesday off, so his only work day this week is tomorrow. Woohoo!!
Yay! Well done!! I'm pondering my Turkey Trot 10K. Do it, or not? Try, or not? Personal worst, or not? So many questions. Maybe I'll sleep on it :-)

Great job with the 5k! The strength you earned with the marathon is still paying off. Can't wait to read all about it. Have fun with the holiday preparations.

Great job, Michelle!! You are super fast... and we never got to meet. :( We didn't really hang out too long afterwards... though I usually love the raffle and awards presentation. We'll have to cross paths at the next race!
