We had a crazy day yesterday. We left the house at 9:15am and didn't get home until 4:45pm.
First it was off to soccer, where Dante again just ran around kicking the soccer ball while Gabe played with the coach and the other kids. They both had a great time, and it's been really cool to see how much Gabe has progressed in just a few weeks. Hopefully he'll enjoy T-Ball as much as he's liked soccer.
After soccer, we had to stop at the dealership to get one of the lights fixed on the car. It was a quick fix, so we waited while they did it, and although Gabe was content to sit in the waiting room with me and watch TV, Dante dragged Scott around the showroom, saying he wanted to look at all the "hot rods and motorcars." Gabe did join them in there at one point, and they were checking out an '09 Mercedes convertible, and Gabe asked if it cost five dollars. If only......
From there we stopped to pick up a gift bag and birthday card, as our next stop was a birthday party. We've been invited to a few of the boys' friends parties, but haven't been able to go to them for one reason or another, so this was really the first big birthday party they've gone to with friends, and they had SO much fun!
It was at a great location, and the party was just perfect - games, activities (including a pinata, which they both loved!), pizza, cake, ice cream, and candy - and even Cheetos and juice boxes! What more could a kid ask for?! When Gabe walked in, the first thing he said - ignoring the cake, the decorations, the balloons, and all the toys - was "CHEETOS!" He's a Cheeto-aholic.
It was just such a great time, and now I'm really looking forward to Gabe's party next month. I know he'll be so excited to have a party with his friends.
One of the funniest things, though, was when we first pulled into the parking lot. The name of the party place is "Wonder Junction," and we told the boys that, and when we started to get out of the car, Dante got all excited and said "I can't wait to go to the dungeon!" And then when we were leaving, I told them each to make sure they got their goody bags, and the whole way home in the car, Dante kept calling it his "funny bag."
After we left the party, we still had a few more stops - the jeweler, where we had to drop off my watch to get fixed, and where Dante saw a man in the parking lot with long hair and a beard and said "Look, Mommy, it's a pirate!"; then the grocery store, to pick up stuff for dinner. And then, finally, we came home!
It was a long day, but a good one, and in light of all the excitement and the nonstop pace, the boys held up remarkably well, with nary a meltdown from either of them.
Today will definitely include some outdoor play time, since it's already 42 degrees out : )
Speaking of that, I'm about to head out for my long run - with shorts on - woohoo!!!! No water bottle slushies today!
Don't confuse the boy by mixing in baseball! LOL... :-) Cheeto-aholic! Now that's a good one!!!
