Feeling much better this week. Not nearly as lethargic or low on energy. Still congested, though, so I think that last week I may have been dealing with a combination of a cold virus plus allergies, and it just wiped me out.
Whatever it was, I'm just glad I'm feeling better this week. I was able to run yesterday (4 miles), and the usual aches were there, but other than that, I felt pretty good, and hope to go again tomorrow.
Today was our busy day, and it lived up to that name, and was especially busy for Gabe, since in addition to his regular schedule of school + long bus ride home + right back out the door to soccer, he also had his first field trip this morning! They went to an apple orchard, and had a beautiful day for it. As is always the case with him, details about his day and the field trip were sparse, but it sounded like he had a good time.
Dante and I had fun, too. Storytime at the library was all about castles, and he made a crown that he got to decorate with stickers, and then he got to go to school, too, so there was excitement all around : )
Dante has always been our joker, doing just about anything to get a laugh, but he's really gotten extra silly lately, and when he and Gabe get together, they just about fall all over themselves trying to out-silly the other. Sometimes it's funny, and other times they get completely out of control and we need to reel them back in and get them focused on a quiet activity, to try to get them back to a more sane place.
And of course they tend to get all silly and crazy right around dinnertime, which means that we really have to be on our toes at dinnertime, to make sure that things don't get out of hand, which can happen very, very quickly.
They started getting all crazy when we were eating dinner in CT this past weekend, telling knock-knock jokes, and the punchline for all of them involved either pee or poop - because pee and poop are hilariously funny, didn't you know?
As soon as we heard what was going on, they were reprimanded, but Dante, as is often the case, thought he'd try to get away with just a little bit more, and continued giggling and chuckling, and getting his cousin to do the same.
Then Gabe said to both of them, very sternly, "You two stop it right now, or you're fired!" When we asked him why they were going to be fired, he said "Because they're having all the joke fun!"
He was the one having all the joke fun tonight, when he started to tell a knock-knock joke at the dinner table. I cut him off before he could even finish, and reminded him that we don't tell jokes at the table. Then I walked over to get something off the stove, and he said to Dante "Who wants to find out who's there knocking on our door?"
Sneaky little sneak, thinking he could disguise a knock-knock joke.....!
He's getting too smart for his own good. He's also getting too egotistical for his own good. As we were driving home from soccer practice tonight, I told him he had done a good job, and he replied - "I know. I rock."
I am an endurance athlete. I KNOW that pee and poop are hilariously funny! :-)
