I had hoped to get to bed by 9, and here it is 10pm, and I just sat down, after running around folding laundry, packing lunches, and putting groceries away. Sigh. Early bedtime is always my goal, but it never seems to happen. No wonder I'm always tired.
Easter was fabulous. The sun was out, the temperature was perfect, and finally, after years of indoor egg hunts at Grammy and Grampy's, we were able to have the easter egg hunt outside! And we were also able to send the kids outside to play, so the house was actually somewhat quiet.
The boys did two local egg hunts, too, but didn't get a lot of candy at those ones, which is fine, because I'd rather the house wasn't full of treats - they don't need all that junk, and I certainly don't, either. They ended up with what I think is a very reasonable amount of candy, and since we dole it out very, very slowly, it will last them quite a while.
They were very excited Easter morning. I hid their baskets under the dining room table, and left a trail of bunnies (stuffed animals) leading to the table, and the final bunny was actually their Snoopy doll with bunny ears on - the Easter Beagle.
The easter bunny didn't leave them a ton of candy, since I knew they'd be getting more from Grammy and Grampy, but I did let them each eat one piece of candy in the morning. I think that's a good Easter tradition : )
Carmine did well with all the excitement, and with the car rides down to CT and back. He slept most of the way down, and woke up and cried a little for the last 10 minutes of the ride. He wasn't hungry, so I think he was just sick of sitting in his seat - as were the rest of us!
And he was perfectly fine with being passed around to various people throughout the day, and even took two halfway decent naps, and treated everyone to lots of his beautiful smiles. And on the ride home, he was so tired he slept the entire time. The boys, on the other hand, didn't stop talking the entire time. They were so wound up, and so excited. They went right to sleep when we got home, though, so they were definitely tired, too.
Got in my 7-mile long run on Saturday morning, and it went pretty well. I've had a cold since early last week, and didn't work out too much last week as a result, and was still dragging a bit on Saturday, and it definitely affected me on the run. The first 4 miles were ok, but the last three were rough - I was really tired, and slowed down a lot. I think I ended up averaging a 9:45 pace, though, so not too bad.
This coming weekend is the 5K - so excited for that!!!! Then I have two more weeks 'til the half. I'll do a 9-miler one weekend, then a 10-miler the following weekend, then it'll be race day the following week. It's going to be a slow half-marathon for me, but I don't care at all. I'm going to be happy just to be there, and to cross the finish line.
There's more I'd love to write about, but I'm too tired to get my thoughts together, so I'll save it for another day.....
Glad you had a great Easter, and I'm looking forward to your race!
