December has arrived, and I'm still kind of in disbelief. It feels like just yesterday I was waddling around with an almost-10-pound baby in my belly, and now here I am thinking about his first birthday party.
And now that little baby is the one waddling around! He took his first steps this past Saturday, when we were at Mom and Dad's house. So fun that they were there for it!
I posted a video on facebook of him taking a few tentative steps, and a friend commented that 'it never gets old seeing your kid learning how to walk,' and she's so, so right. It may be the third time around, but it's no less amazing to watch a huge milestone like that. Especially when I see the look on his face as he wobbles towards me - such intense concentration, followed by pure elation when he gets his little legs to do what he so badly wants them to do.
He's taken as many as 8 or 9 steps in a row, but mostly gets 3 - 5 steps in before he plops down on his butt. He's getting more and more confident, though, and trying to walk so much more. I had figured he'd be walking full time by Christmas, and judging by how well he's doing already, I think that prediction will be pretty accurate.
I'm so excited for him, but definitely feeing a little melancholy that my baby is well on his way to leaving babyhood behind.....
its amazing how baby rises to meet the parent's expecations... or is that the other way around. That is the question. I have it, on most excellent advice, that the answer is 46. :-) Blessed are the children that come unto me :-D
